Would You Believe This?

Auntie Joan, missionary of 38 years, and I (a pastor-preacher type of none of your busness how many years!) are going tomorrow night to watch the Flames play game seven against the National Hockey League Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Those readers of this blog who do not live in this tight little corner of Alberta may have been in need of parts of the above explanation.

I admit to having a friend unwise enough to email me "Go Flyers!" Good Brother, but silly fan!! When Philly Coach Hitchcock gets fired, you will have heard it here first.

Now as to the tickets for tomorrow night's game--I had them in my sweaty palms but for a few minutes, before they were snatched away by the keepers of the family rules--good old Dad can'tbe allowed to even look after these precious tickets overnite!! But I had them long enough to see the price tag of $225.00 on each one of them. And I am told, on ebay, they could bring a thousand each!! Silly, silly world.

Son Tim has been in the papers too--as the compassionate, well-dressed lawyer, charitably inclined, who is representing the 12-year-old girl for a minimal fee. She is charged with killing her parents, and there he was in the paper looking for all the world like me--(except for that silly whatsit in his ear!). Pardon me while I brag a bit--he is a few pounds heavier!!

Now all of this is happening with Mother Marilynne celebrating her 66th! Getting cards from all over, except from me, the ever devoted husband who has neglected that little item so far.

Will the Flames win tomorrow night? Not sure. I know they should. They probably will. But if not the world will not end, even for Mikka and Iggy.

Time to say that the spiffy seats are certainly nice--the seats will be appreciated and the game will come and go. The final whistle will sound. It's nice to know there are some things more enduring and worthy. Like knowing who God is and welcoming Him into your life for the really serious matters which duly, eventually, finally have to be considered--like the tomorrows of eternity.

(I wondered if Tim might be representing that young girl when I read the story on the internet a few days ago - so sad - we'll be praying for him!)

My sympathy to all the devoted Flames fans in the family!! Serves Joan right for switching loyalties from Oilers to Flames!! Watched for you on TV but you were too secluded.

I have re-read the final paragraph of this blog a few times in the last week. Great words to ponder as we remember Uncle Neill and honor his life. We know without a doubt where he is spending eternity and that we too can have that same assurance.

We will miss you, Uncle Neill. We are blessed to have known you. I will miss your phone calls to remind you of your userid & password for your blog! :-)

While most of you on this blog will not know me...I believe it necessary to at least attempt to honor Neill and express my love for Marilynee.

God brought the Fosters across my path years ago when they were 'stationed' at Christian Publications in Camp Hill, PA.

I am the wealthiest man in Lititz for the Lord giving me Neill. What a gift. I will never see another Flames game without thinking of him.

I look forward to the day when we dance with the saints in the Kingdom. I will miss you Neill. Thank you Lord for allowing me to walk with this 5 star general of the Kingdom!

You have done well, good and faithful son. Now enter into your Fathers' rest. Thank you Marilynne for sharing him with all of us.

Veronique & Jeff -

You are more than welcome to use any and all of what I said here. I am sorry to have been late in my response, but was out of town the 17th through the 22nd.

I hope you took brotherly liberty and used whatever small words I may have offered to honor Neill.

While my lovely bride Linda and I were unable to attend the events honoring Neill, we are planning a lengthy trip out west, intending to visit Neill's last earthly resting place. This will be in early spring 2007. We also hope to catch up with Marilynne if she is up for a visit.

My eyes are misting up a bit at the moment and so will sign off for now. I could not carry Neill's lunch. I am just moved to know that our name is in the same Book of Life!
