Putin's Opening to Hamas
Predictably, after the terrorist group Hamas was democratically elected among the Palestinians, many authorities including Israel declared that no one should ever deal with terrorists until they had denounced terror and recognized the state of Israel's right to exist.
No one has been holding their breath, waiting for that to happen.
Gradually, some parts of the world are softening their attitudes toward the terrorists. Including Russia. Initially, Russia formally recognized Hamas as the new government of the Palestinians and President Putin has now invited Hamas representatives to Moscow.
All of which reminds me that this should not be unexpected. Those familiar with prophecies of the Old Testament will know that Ezekiel prophesied about a northern kingdom that would one fateful day invade Israel from the North.
Do the Israelis know something? Do they intuitively sense that Putin's push may be in part, an early shadow of another fateful day. My guess is that they do.
Perhaps they know as well that when Russia finally comes down from the north, many nations will be allied with the Great Bear. (Ezekiel 38 is a fascinating read.) It does tell us how it will all turn out.
