First Nations Suffer Discrimination in Canada

A very naughty news story is bouncing around Alberta this afternoon--and it will quickly spread far and wide. It has to do with Mrs. Ralph Klein being a Metis person who, it is alleged, is trying to get Ralph to continue on as Premier. She has been painted as an over-reaching woman who wants to manage her husband's future (and her place in it). Because, she will, it is alleged, be "just another Indian" once her husband steps down.

The cut is beyond distasteful and unkind. It is an intolerable racial slur on a public person.

Clearly, real discrimination is alive and well in Calgary, the rest of Alberta and across Canada. It's also prevalent in the United States too--but that's another story.

While the Americans discriminate against black people, it is different in Canada. Blacks in this land become hockey and football stars, all free of discrimination generally.

But the Indian and Metis populations suffer the unhappy wounds of racial discrimination. It has been that way in Canada for generations, and no amount of wasted government money is ever going to get it changed.

This kind of poison flows from toxic hearts still unredeemed. After all, isn't it the human heart that is "desperately wicked?" "Who can know it?" the prophet asked.

I was told today in my multicultural studies class that Alberta has the highest racism.

I am glad this is not happening on my team which has two kids who have one native parent and one who has both. The other kids make no differences as far as I can see.
