An Army of 200,000,000?

Sometimes as I look out on the North American scene, dissolute and decayed as it is, I ask myself the sombre question: "What will the Chinese do with this land when they get it?" Sometimes I even voice the question, and the response is always laced with incredulity.

"You are crazy." "That could never happen here." These are the silent responses.

But as usual there are some bothersome Scriptures which pop up. For instance, in Joel 2:2 there is the reference to "a large and mighty army [which] comes, such as never was of old nor ever will be in the ages to come." It sounds like another Scripture with which I am familiar, " The number of the mounted troops was two hundred million" (Revelation 9:16).

The apparent absence of the United States in the prophetic scenario could lead us to believe that something catastrophic has happened to America. Right now, China's economy is increasingly energetic--growing and growing. And if the world's lone super power is destroyed, what would there be to hinder?

Not much. Especially if all the Christians, and their restraining influences are gone as some suggest(2 Thessalonians 4:17-18).
